How to Draw Female Characters by Fadura-lotti How to Draw Female Characters by Fadura-lotti
Since I'm not doing a comic for the time being, obviously I must do something else to fill in the space (as I'm still trying to requests, this clearly means that I have masochistic tendencies). Which is apparently planning out three tutorials on how to draw female characters.

Mostly inspired by [link] because it demonstrates the sad, sad state of affairs that is the resources for female character design.
This is either going to help someone or it's just going to sound pretentious because I am a grumpy artist-critter.

Now this isn't really a beginner's tutorial. We're going into anatomy and character design so I generally presume the audience is someone who already has some basic idea on how to draw. I'm still working on the next -Two? Three?- tutorials so if you guys want to see anything just comment or note me about it.

(Also, if you spot typos, please say so. >_< )

Suggester's words: There are so many "how to draw women" tutorials out there, and most of them focus on only one basic body type. How to Draw Female Characters by ~Fadura-lotti is great because it fills in the blanks and focuses on the all the different body shapes and sizes that are so often overlooked by artists. This is a tutorial for artists who want to move beyond the basic cookie-cutter "pin up girl" body type and start adding more diversity to their female characters. I love this. it drives me mad how people honestly believe boobs are like the floating balloons demonstrated in pornography nowadays.

Thank you for this tutorial, I've been searching for one that has different body types.
ZeldaTheSwordsman Featured By Owner Oct 3, 2013
The one problem here is that you gave them all thigh gaps; reality is that thigh gaps are only natural on a handful of people, and having one without the genetic predisposition is a sign of malnutrition.
Wallsofgoo Featured By Owner Dec 23, 2013
Look at all the other poses and such, those dont have thigh gaps? And its not a problem to have them,

I'm trying to learn how to draw, and I'm so glad that there's something like this out there! It's very useful, and it's helpful for me, because I don't have to learn this late into drawing, to find bad habits are already formed. It's very informative and easy to learn. Thanks!

B-but... I ish girl... and I got v-shaped collar bones....
Alibear29 Featured By Owner May 16, 2013
"Outside of a very, VERY poor boob job, the shape depicted about is simply not possible." I believe you mean "above" instead of "about". That was the only typo I saw.

Thank you so much for making this! I've been wanting to draw for a while now, and this really helps me flesh out my characters.

Gaaaahhh this is so perfect! It helped so much, I'm really intrested in defining out my oc's different body types, I had them before but now I know how to convey them better! Thank you so much for making this!

you just called my spine absurd!
i know people with overly straight spines and others with overly bent spines. it's natural variety, if absurd (and my specimen B spine is painful)

This was extremely helpful and informative; epesically to me since Female's and their form is always a struggle for me to understand and draw, despite the fact I'm a girl myself. I cannot thank you enough!

It's funny to me. I have B size breast and I look like your D size girl. But, well, bodies are all differents.

I think this is very well done, but that your concept of boob sizes is a bit skewed.
Miayako Featured By Owner Sep 26, 2012
If she's going by bra cup size, then she's wrong. If she's going by what people usually think of them they think of the letter sizes, then she's correct. If you tell people you have "34 A breasts" they think you have nothing, when in reality your breast size would be "C" in the picture.
ZephyrTheDragonlord Featured By Owner Apr 26, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
being a guy i tend to have a hard time understanding many things that women tend to think of... and unfortunately it tends to confuse me to no end... just as drawing female characters... i have an extremely hard time with it but i've honestly been trying to get better
CGLProductions Featured By Owner Mar 31, 2012
It's funny how i found disgusting nude pictures but when i see nude things in a tutorial i don't care.

Whatever, i found the boob sizes too small. I mean, i thought that b or c types was bigger.

I don't think i've heard the collarbone-and-sex tip before, cool.
